Votes in Boldurești may be recounted; CEC to discuss the issue

Independent candidate Sergiu Bulicanu, who is running in the local elections in Boldurești, has requested a recount of the votes due to claims of irregularities in the electoral process. His request is set to be reviewed at the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) meeting scheduled for tomorrow, June 4.
In a recent social media message, Sergiu Bulicanu raised concerns about irregularities in the electoral process.
“There have been reports of irregularities in the voting process, some of which are already known to you, the residents of Boldurești commune. There is a clear basis for contesting the results, including the absence of a ballot in one polling station, which raises serious questions about the fairness of the voting process,” he stated.
According to the minutes published by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), 1,242 voters received ballots, while only 1,241 participated in the voting.
Sergiu Bulicanu received 49.47% (602 votes) in the second round of the local elections held on June 1 in the Boldurești commune of Nisporeni district. The candidate with the most votes, Nicanor Ciochină, received 615 votes and is currently facing allegations of fatally injuring a 14-year-old child.
Nicanor Ciochină is accused of causing the death of a 14-year-old on the evening of February 19, 2024, and then fleeing the scene. He allegedly attempted to conceal evidence of the incident and evaded criminal prosecution. A doctor from Nisporeni is also implicated in the case for reportedly aiding Ciochină in covering up the evidence.
Ciochină is being investigated while at large and denies any wrongdoing.
