The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Dorin Recean, stated today in Brussels that the country will make every effort to be ready for accession to the European Union by 2028. This assurance was given during a meeting with Roberta Metsola, the President of the European Parliament.

"We are working towards being ready for EU accession by 2028, ensuring that the Republic of Moldova is not only supported but also represented in the European Parliament as a member of the EU," declared the Head of Government from Chisinau.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean expressed gratitude to the European official for their assistance on Moldova's European journey. "We appreciate the continuous support from the European Parliament and your confidence in the Moldovan people's ability to build a future of peace and prosperity. The European Parliament stands by the Republic of Moldova in crucial moments. Recently, MEPs from all member states endorsed the Growth Plan for Moldova, which includes aid worth €1.9 billion," said Recean.

We remind you that today, in Brussels, the ninth meeting of the Association Council between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova is taking place. The meeting's objective is to assess Chisinau's progress in the EU accession process and evaluate the commitments made to implement key reforms, focusing on justice reform, the fight against corruption, and strengthening democracy and security.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean leads the Moldovan delegation, while the European Union's delegation is headed by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas. The European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, also attends the meeting.
