Mureșan: The Republic of Moldova will get €300M in Growth Plan pre-financing soon

The Republic of Moldova will soon receive 300 million euros in pre-financing from the 1.9 billion euro Growth Plan. Siegfried Mureșan, the chairman of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with the Republic of Moldova, made this announcement on his Facebook page following a meeting in Brussels with Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

"I am confident that Prime Minister Dorin Recean will effectively manage this funding. He will ensure that the money swiftly reaches those who need it, particularly for investments in infrastructure, roads, schools, hospitals, and kindergartens," stated Mureșan.

The MEP also emphasized that our country will continue to receive support in the European integration process.

"We will stand by the Republic of Moldova just as they have supported us. Together, we will defend the European path for the Republic of Moldova and Romania," the MEP added.

We remind you that on March 11, the European Parliament voted to approve the Growth Plan worth 1.9 billion euros for the Republic of Moldova—an initiative launched by the European Commission in October 2024. This plan includes the allocation of 400 million euros in non-repayable grants and 1.5 billion euros in favorable loans. The disbursement of these funds is contingent on compliance with democratic principles, including free elections, independent media, the functioning of the judiciary, and the protection of human rights.

The funds will be disbursed in tranches between 2025 and 2027, depending on the fulfillment of specific reform conditions, with actual payments to be made by June 30, 2029. Seventy-five percent of the loan will be allocated for budget support, while twenty-five percent will finance investment projects.
