Boldurești elections: Ballots will be recounted on Saturday

The recount of ballots for the mayoral position in Boldurești commune, Nisporeni district, is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, according to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC). The process will take place at the local Culture House.
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) ordered a recount of voters and signatures from the electoral lists, as well as a review of valid and invalid ballots, unused ballots, and canceled ballots for the mayoral election in the three polling stations of Boldurești commune, Nisporeni district.
The results of the recount will be communicated to the CEC by no later than Sunday.
This recount was requested by one of the mayoral candidates, Sergiu Bulicanu.
In the electoral contest held on June 1 in Boldurești commune, Nicanor Ciochină emerged victorious with 615 votes, defeating his opponent, Sergiu Bulicanu, by 13 votes.
However, Nicanor Ciochină faces serious allegations for fatally injuring a 14-year-old child on the evening of February 19, 2024, and subsequently fleeing the scene. He is accused of attempting to conceal the evidence of the accident and evading criminal prosecution. Additionally, a doctor from Nisporeni is implicated in the case for allegedly assisting Ciochină in hiding the evidence. The doctor is currently under investigation but denies any wrongdoing.
