Șolcani residents will soon get drinking water via the "European Village" program

Residents of the village of Şolcani will soon have access to tap water. A new aqueduct is being constructed in the area due to the drying up of many local wells. This project, funded by the “European Village” program, is valued at approximately seven million lei. It will supply drinking water to both households and public institutions.

Carolina Spoială is raising six children, and she says that the biggest problem in her household has been the lack of drinking water.

"We have children, and we have a lot to wash. It was difficult; we used to bring water from the well with kettles. The children were growing, and we even asked them to help us," she explained.

Although they dug a well in their yard, they still had to buy water.

This situation is common among the villagers, who are now hoping to resolve the water shortage problem.

"The well was far away. We used to carry buckets whenever something needed watering. When we saw this project starting, we were very happy," said one villager.

"Until now, water for school was brought in buckets, but we had to buy water for food," another resident added.

"The work is progressing very quickly, and we are already waiting for the water to reach us," the community members expressed.

According to the project, over 13 kilometers of aqueduct will be constructed, two water towers will be installed, a water disinfection station will be set up, and the existing artesian well will be repaired.

"Currently, approximately 60 per cent of the total work is being carried out, and we hope that by the end of the year, all within the project's implementation period, all tasks will be completed to a high standard," declared Lucia Iftodi, the secretary of the communal council.

A total of 432 households and five public institutions are expected to benefit from the new aqueduct.
