Moldova's vital Chișinău-Giurgiulești road nears completion

Construction of the Chișinău-Comrat-Giurgiulești road is well underway. Authorities indicate the works could conclude by early next year, significantly improving the connection between Chișinău and the Romanian border.

The long-standing issue for Vulcănești residents on the city's outskirts, caused by heavy-duty truck traffic intensely circulating on their streets and creating significant discomfort, will soon be resolved.
"It was incredibly difficult; it lasted for years. It will be much better now if heavy-duty trucks no longer pass through here. The dust they generate and their high speed cause houses to vibrate. We attempt repairs, but they are only temporary."

"It's excellent that they're doing this, because previously, anyone needing to reach the station had to pass through Vulcănești; now, they'll use this route. The road is good, and everyone will be satisfied."
Currently, bridge construction is underway, concrete drainage channels are being installed, and concurrently, asphalting and access road improvements are being performed.
"The bridge is 95% complete; work on the parapet and joint preparation is ongoing," states Ion Sochirca, construction team leader.
"According to the project, a reinforced concrete underpass, already constructed and measuring 6 by 5 meters with a length of 34 meters, was designed. This underpass will allow all necessary agricultural machinery to cross, providing farmers access to their lands," notes Anatol Bacinschi, technical manager.

The works commenced in September 2023, with a planned completion deadline of February 2026.
"Over 180 people are involved in the project team, and we have excellent equipment mobilization, with approximately 90 out of 120 total units deployed on site. We conduct daily operations. We are currently in the final paving phase of the last wearing course for the Vulcănești bypass road project," highlights project manager Adrian Bejenaru.

"This Vulcănești bypass section is 74% physically complete as of today. The works are scheduled for completion between February 16-26, 2026. We observe a physical progress of 10-12%, which gives us confidence that this work will be finished 3-4 months ahead of the planned deadline," affirms Sergiu Bejan, Director General of the State Road Administration.
The works are being executed by a Ukrainian company, with the project valued at over 21 million euros. Funding was provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The M3 Chișinău-Comrat-Giurgiulești road section is part of the European corridor E577 Poltava-Kirovograd-Chișinău-Giurgiulești-Galați-Slobozia.
