"The government is united in its unwavering message of solidarity with Ukraine and the people of the neighboring country. (…) We chose to be on the right side of history! We thank Ukraine and the Ukrainian people for fighting, for defending Europe and the values of democracy. Ukraine and Peace will win!" wrote the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Dorin Recean, on a social network. We remind that the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what they later called a "special demilitarization and denazification operation." From the first days of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, along with the main international bodies (USA, EU, UN, Council of Europe, NATO) condemned Russia's aggression and imposed sanctions on this state. On March 2, 2022, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, based in The Hague, Karim A.A. Khan QC, opened an investigation into war crimes and crimes against humanity.
