Russian Foreign Ministry: Any threat to the Transnistrian region will be considered an attack on Russia. Chisinau reacts
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia condemns the so-called concentration of Ukrainian military forces on the border between Ukraine and the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova. In a statement issued today, Russian diplomacy warned Ukraine and NATO countries not to "adventure" regarding the Transnistrian region, noting that it is ready to "adequately respond" to any provocations that would endanger the population of the region.
"In connection with the significant accumulation of Ukrainian military personnel and equipment near the border between Ukraine and Transnistria, as noted by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the deployment of artillery placed in firing position, as well as the increased number to an unprecedented level of flights of Ukrainian drones over the territory of the transnistrian, we warn the US, NATO and their Ukrainian henchmen not to take adventurous actions", reads the statement issued by the Russian MFA. Diplomacy in Moscow says it supports the resolution of any issue "by political and diplomatic means". At the same time, it warns that "the Army of the Russian Federation will respond to the provocations of the Kiev regime, if any kind of action takes place"*, ensuring "the protection of the compatriots of the transnistrian region". "Any action that will be a danger to them will be considered, in accordance with international laws, as an attack on the Russian Federation," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. We remind you that yesterday, the Russian Ministry of Defense published two press releases in which they declare that a significant accumulation of personnel and military equipment of Ukrainian units is registered near the border between Ukraine and the Transnistrian region. The advisor of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Mihail Podoliak, rejected Moscow's accusations, in an exclusive interview for Radio Moldova. The Ukrainian official stated that the decision to solve the Transnistrian problem belongs only to the Moldovan side. Moreover, the adviser to the Ukrainian president also mentioned that Ukraine would not act in this way without direct consultations with the Republic of Moldova, Romania and the countries of the European Union. We remind that Chisinau did not confirm the information disseminated by Moscow. "We note that, at present, there are no direct threats to the military security of the state," reads the statement issued by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova, which urged people to remain calm and get information from official sources. The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova in the Joint Control Commission (JCC) also came with a reaction, which announced that the situation in the Security Zone is calm, without changes compared to the previous period.
