Tiraspol extends economic emergency amid gas crisis

The Tiraspol regime has extended the economic state of emergency for the Transnistrian region by another 30 days, effective June 11.
The decision was approved by the self-proclaimed supreme soviet, which ratified the decree signed by Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselski.
Local media in the region notes that the measure is justified by the worsening economic crisis and the deterioration of socio-economic indicators in the region. Authorities on the left bank of the Dniester cite reduced natural gas supplies as the primary cause of the economic decline.
The economic state of emergency was first implemented on December 11, 2024, and has since been extended five times. The previous extension had expired on June 8. According to the region's internal legislation, the maximum duration of a state of emergency across the entire territory cannot exceed six months.
During this special regime, the Tiraspol administration is implementing a series of economic measures and restrictions. Previously, exports of several types of solid fuels were banned, including coal, peat, firewood, and derivatives like wood chips and sawdust.
