The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, had a meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine in Chisinau, Marko Shevchenko, on the day Ukraine commemorates one year since the start of the Russian military invasion. The head of state sent her condolences to all those who lost their loved ones in this unjustified war.
"Ukrainians have all our admiration for the courage with which they defend their homeland, defend us and defend the entire European continent in the face of Russian aggression," said Maia Sandu. Maia Sandu assured Ambassador Şevchenko that the Republic of Moldova continues to be with the Ukrainian people in this fight for democracy and freedom. The officials mentioned that today "we also have to fight propaganda and disinformation and that we do not allow ourselves to be lied to and manipulated by those who justify this war". Also, the officials emphasized that joint efforts will be made to make the truth known. The parties also discussed security challenges and how things might evolve in the coming months. The Presidency of the Republic of Moldova expresses solidarity with Ukraine and joins the European campaign #LightUpUkraine. "Glory to Ukraine!" February 24 marked one year since the Russian Federation's military invasion of Ukraine.
