Wealth in the US grew disproportionately fast in 2024, with over 379,000 Americans becoming new dollar millionaires—that's more than 1,000 people every day.

This is according to Agerpres, citing data from a report published Wednesday by Swiss bank UBS, which was also quoted by Reuters.

Global private net wealth increased by 4.6%, largely due to an over 11% surge in the Americas. This was driven by a stable US dollar and strong financial market performance, according to UBS's 2025 Global Wealth Report. The US accounted for almost 40% of the world's millionaires in 2024.

The report's chapter on global millionaires (totaling nearly 60 million with combined assets of $226 trillion, according to UBS) noted a 1.2% increase in their number last year, or 684,000 additional individuals.

Almost 40% of these—23 million millionaires, which is 379,000 more than in 2023—are in the United States. China holds the second position in this ranking with 6.3 million, followed by France (2.8 million), Japan (2.7 million), and Germany (2.6 million).

The Swiss bank estimates this upward trend will continue in the coming years, with growth primarily driven by the United States, China, Latin America, and Oceania, according to the report.
