Moldova's EU bid: Security, unity, strong support

Moldova is ready to join the European Union, stated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi, at the conference marking the 70th anniversary of the Messina Conference.
The Moldovan official reiterated Chișinău's firm commitment to advancing on its European path, emphasizing the country's "political will, citizen support, and unwavering commitment to deliver results."
Popșoi further noted that the spirit of the Messina vision remains highly relevant, serving as a crucial benchmark for European integration: "Messina 1955 was a starting point for the construction of Europe. Looking back, we better understand how crucial it is to carry this project forward with determination and vision."
The Taormina Conference brought together European leaders and high-ranking officials who reaffirmed their strong support for Moldova's European trajectory.
European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Koss, Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, Polish Minister Radosław Sikorski, and France's Minister Delegate for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad all advocated for accelerating Moldova's accession process to the European Union.
European officials emphasized that Moldova's integration into the EU is a security imperative and a significant step toward the reunification of the European continent.
During the conference, a Joint Declaration was adopted by EU member states, reaffirming their strong commitment to European integration and the reunification of the entire continent.
On the sidelines of the conference, Mihai Popșoi met with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani to discuss bilateral cooperation and Italy's support for Moldova's European path. The two officials also highlighted the positive impact of the recent bilateral agreement on social security, which brings significant benefits to the Moldovan community in Italy.
