Trump's Iran strikes spark Middle East instability

The U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to strike Iranian nuclear facilities has thrown the Middle East into instability, according to analysts, with all eyes now on Tehran's next move, CNN reports.

These actions pose inherent risks for Iran and its leadership's future survival. In an already tense region, Trump's airstrikes present Iran with several options, experts note.

The first option is that Iran could return to the negotiating table. Another possibility is for Iran to retaliate, which risks dragging the United States and the entire Middle East region into a complicated and prolonged conflict. Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, must make a decision and is likely to respond, CNN reports.

The North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) is closely monitoring the situation in Iran after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that U.S. forces had attacked three main nuclear facilities in the country, a NATO official stated.

Tehran's Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, condemned the U.S. attack, stating that it represents a violation of international law that will have "lasting consequences."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the attack in Iran a "historic turning point" that could lead the Middle East toward peace. Increased security measures are being taken in New York, Washington, and Israel.

Iraq warned that the United States' attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities threaten Middle East stability. This military escalation constitutes a grave threat to peace and security in the Middle East and poses serious risks to regional stability, stated the Iraqi Government spokesperson. He warned that a continuation of the attacks risks dangerous escalation with cross-border consequences, threatening the security of the entire region and the world. Iraq called for immediate de-escalation and conveyed that the international community needs to remember that "wars only leave destruction in their wake."

Saudi Arabia also expressed deep concern following the U.S. attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, according to a statement from its Foreign Ministry. The Kingdom appealed to the international community to redouble efforts in these highly tense circumstances to reach a political solution to end the crisis.

Some Democratic lawmakers in the United States condemn the U.S. strikes in Iran and the fact that they were carried out without Congressional consent, the BBC writes. They state that this is a serious violation of the Constitution and an absolute and clear reason for impeachment. Officials are urging Congress to intervene immediately.

The United States of America bombed Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan from Saturday night to Sunday morning, Donald Trump announced in a White House statement. The U.S. president described the action as a "very successful attack." He stated that Iran "must now make peace."

And on Sunday morning, Iran attacked several cities in Israel, injuring at least 16 people.
