Maia Sandu congratulated Romania’s new PM, Ilie Bolojan: “We’ll continue close cooperation for our citizens’ benefit”

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu congratulated Ilie Bolojan on assuming the role of Prime Minister of Romania. In a message shared on the X platform, she emphasized that the Republic of Moldova will continue to be a reliable partner of Romania and expressed her confidence that bilateral relations will keep strengthening.
"The Republic of Moldova is a reliable partner, and we are confident in our continued close cooperation with Romania for the benefit of citizens on both sides of the Prut," wrote Maia Sandu.

Ilie Bolojan, the interim president of the National Liberal Party (PNL), was appointed on Friday, June 20, by the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, to form the new government. This announcement was made during a press conference at Cotroceni Palace, which Bolojan also attended.
The proposal followed consultations with various parliamentary parties, with the aim of establishing a stable executive capable of addressing Romania's internal and external challenges. On June 23, Bolojan's government received a vote of confidence from Parliament, securing 301 votes in favor and only nine against. Later that evening, the new Cabinet was sworn in at Cotroceni Palace in the presence of President Nicușor Dan, who emphasized the importance of political stability for Romania.
The first meeting of the new executive was scheduled for June 23 at 10:00 p.m.
