Some of the medals have arrived home! Sprint canoeist Daniela Cociu returned to the country after winning her first individual medal at the senior level during the European Championships. At the continental competition held in the Czech Republic, she secured 3rd place in the women's single canoe 5000 meters event.

"It was a difficult race. Five kilometres is not the same as 500 meters. As I mentioned before, with each lap, I felt like the race would never end. However, I demonstrated that all the preparation I did over the winter and the trips I took had a visible impact on my performance. To be honest, I expected this outcome because we put in a lot of hard work. It would have been disappointing if we hadn't achieved a result," said Daniela Cociu.

Moreover, in the final of the mixed canoe quartet competition over the 500-meter distance, Cociu, along with Maria Olărașu and the brothers Serhii and Oleg Tarnovschi, won the bronze medal. In the same competition, Serghei Tarnovschi became the European champion and vice-champion, winning two bronze medals and becoming a member of the national team with the most impressive record at the European Championships in the Czech Republic.

The Republic of Moldova's national canoe team ranked 7th in the overall medal standings at the European Championships, securing five podium finishes.
