Serghei Carapunarlî was proposed for the position of deputy director of the National Anticorruption Center

The candidacy of Serghei Carapunarlî, the former head of the Asset Recovery Agency (ARBI), will be presented to Parliament for approval for the position of deputy director of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA). This decision was made by members of the Parliamentary Committee on Law, Appointments, and Immunities on June 25.
Carapunarlî emphasized during his hearing at the Commission the importance of enhancing the corruption prevention efforts at the National Anticorruption Center (CNA), particularly in light of the upcoming parliamentary elections this fall.
“CNA is dedicated to informing the citizens of the Republic of Moldova about the risks associated with electoral corruption, the related responsibilities, including financial penalties, and the consequences of such actions. We aim to educate the public about the tendencies towards manipulation through corruption so that societal awareness is significantly improved,” stated Carapunarlî.
He noted that while preventing corruption remains a priority, the CNA is prepared to implement concrete measures in the forthcoming electoral campaign if citizens are unaware of the risks and responsibilities involved.
“We are equipped with a range of prevention actions and prepared with comprehensive measures that CNA officers will execute,” he added.
Carapunarlî began his professional career in 1999 and has been with the CNA since 2002. Between 2018 and 2025, he led the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARBI), which operates under the CNA. He currently serves as the Head of the International Cooperation, Secretariat, and Archives Section within the same agency.
In 2024, Serghei Carapunarlî was honored by presidential decree with the Order of "Faith in the Fatherland" Class II, acknowledging his efforts in the fight against corruption.
His candidacy will be voted on during the plenary session of Parliament.
