New digital panel boosts patient care in capital

Booking appointments with a doctor, checking requests, and accessing information about services and fees will now be easier and free, without the need to wait in line at the registration desk.

At least, these benefits are coming to the "Centru" Territorial Medical Association in Chișinău, thanks to a digital display panel installed as part of a pilot project. Find out how patients are using the new system and what features it offers in our report.
The panel is just steps away from the registration desk. For now, most patients walk past it, saying they're used to speaking directly with staff. Others, however, choose to book their appointments here to save time.
"I think people like me – or younger folks – might grasp it quicker, but seniors are hesitant, and that's why they still wait in line," one patient commented.

"It used to be much tougher at reception. Why? Because we had to stand in line, but with this panel, it's somehow much more accessible and straightforward: you just show up, book your slot, and you're off," another explained.

"It's great. You just walk up, make your appointment, avoid the queue, and don't expose yourself to the risk of catching a virus. Then you can go see the doctor you need," a third patient added.

"I haven't tried it yet; I'm about to do it for the first time, but I'm sure it'll be much faster," said another.
The digital panel was created by Dumitru Tălămbuță, a former student of the Center of Excellence in Energy and Electronics. He explains that the project was initially conceived as his diploma thesis.
"I believe this innovation is a benefit for the polyclinic and territorial medical institutions because it simplifies patient use and scheduling. Some days, anywhere from 10 to 100 appointments are made, on others even more, and then there are days with just 5 or 6 patients," Dumitru Tălămbuță stated.
