Best participants awarded in the National Robotics Competition Sumobot Challenge Moldova 2022
Over 200 students in the country participated on Saturday, in the National Robotics Competition "Sumobot Challenge Moldova" 2022. The teams were made up of two participants, who were in the ring to find out whose robot is the most resistant. The event was organized by the National Center for Digital Innovations in Education, with the support of the US Agency for International Development and the Government of Sweden. At the end of the contest, the best participants received medals, cups and special prizes.
In total, 101 teams participated in the competition. "For me, participating in this contest means gaining experience and abilities that will help me in the future. I want to become an engineer at home, to help the development of this country, ”says the participant in the competition Cristian Sîrbu from Rezina. Students say they were helped by robotics teachers to build a robot according to the requirements of the competition. "For my robot, I made such a program for it to reach the white line not to fall and to kick the opponent," says Gloria Lupan, a student from Ștefănești village, Florești district. "We came here for the first year to understand what is done next year to come stronger and better," says another participant in the competition, Elias Cumpat from Chisinau. Before the competition, each robot was weighed, measured and then recorded. The device had to be up to 15 cm as a side and no more than 1kg. The games were monitored by the referees. "The main rule is for the robot to push the other robot from the ring. If he managed to push, the robot wins a point. There are three rounds, each can earn up to three points, ”explains the rules, the referee Roman Cașciuc. The contest was attended by students from the 210 robotics clubs in the country. "Competitions are a very good opportunity for children to learn new skills, to have new skills. Here they learn to use sensors, use engines, learn principles in mathematics, physics, geometry, "mentions the project manager" Technologies of the future ", Veronica Eșanu.
