The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, had a meeting with the Ambassador of Japan in Chisinau, Yamada Yoichiro, on Monday. The head of state welcomed the decision of the Government of Tokyo to provide us with budgetary support in the amount of 100 million dollars and thanked the ambassador for "excellent bilateral cooperation as well as continuous assistance".
"This support will increase the state's financial resources at a time when our economy, including budget receipts, are affected by the war in Ukraine," said President Maia Sandu. At the same time, the head of state emphasized that Japan is one of the most important development partners of the Republic of Moldova which, over time, has contributed to equipping our hospitals with high-performance medical equipment, helped Moldovan farmers to procure modern agricultural techniques and to apply new technologies, financed programs to support small and medium-sized enterprises and supported cultural and educational projects. We remind you that the official announcement regarding the granting of the loan was made, at the end of last week, by the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida, during the G7 Summit that took place online and was attended by the leaders of the G7 countries and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky .
