A low cost airline suspends its activity in the Republic of Moldova

Low-cost air operator Wizz Air suspends all flights to/on Chisinau International Airport since March 14, 2023. The information was confirmed by the Civil Aeronautical Authority. The institution was notified by an email about the decision stated, being invoked reasons for safety and security of the air space in the region.

AAC sends in a statement that the decision taken by Wizz Air created uncertainty given that on February 14, the air operator requested the approval of the flight program for the summer season, and today it was approved by AAC.

"As a result of the risk analysis, the state institutions have established that flights in the national airspace can be performed safely, applying a series of procedures in this regard, and regrets the sudden decision taken by Wizz Air," says AAC.

The civil aeronautical authority gives assurances that it will take all the necessary actions to ensure the return of the air operator to Chisinau International Airport.
