Trump-Putin: No progress on Ukraine war end

U.S. President Donald Trump stated he made no progress in discussions with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin regarding an end to Russia's war against Ukraine. He made the statement on Thursday, July 3, to journalists at Joint Base Andrews near Washington, DW reported.
"It was a pretty long conversation. We talked about many things, including Iran and, as you know, the war in Ukraine. I'm not at all happy," Trump said, adding, "We made no progress with him (Putin)."
Furthermore, the White House leader mentioned that the United States continues to deliver weapons to Ukraine. "We're supplying weapons, we're working with them, and we're trying to help them," Trump clarified. However, he sharply criticized his predecessor's policy, stating, "Biden drained the entire country by giving them weapons, and we have to make sure we have enough for ourselves."
Kremlin confirms call
According to the Kremlin, the July 3 phone call was the sixth between the two leaders this year and lasted nearly an hour. Russian presidential advisor Yuri Ushakov confirmed that the discussions also covered Syria, Iran, and Middle East issues. A face-to-face meeting wasn't discussed, but "the idea is floating around," the Russian official stated.
According to the Financial Times, Donald Trump is expected to speak by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on July 4. Kyiv officials confirmed to AFP that preparations for this discussion are already underway.
Meanwhile, Politico reports, citing sources within the Department of Defense, that the Pentagon has suspended deliveries to Ukraine of Patriot and Hellfire missiles and other precision munitions due to concerns about low U.S. stock levels. These deliveries had been previously approved by the Biden administration.
