Moldova: 50 schools to be renovated by 2029

Renovation work at some educational institutions, part of the "Model Schools Network," is expected to begin next year.
The Ministry of Education announced that some of these institutions are in the final stages of their technical design. Among those slated for full rehabilitation is the "Mihai Eminescu" Theoretical High School in Cimișlia, attended by about 900 students.

Over the next two years, the classrooms at "Mihai Eminescu" High School will undergo a complete transformation. Old furniture, squeaky floors, and insufficient lighting will become a distant memory. The institution is set to be renovated next year, with the aim of modernizing and furnishing the premises to ensure optimal learning and teaching conditions for students and teachers.
According to the project, 32 classrooms are slated for renovation.
"The math classroom last received new furniture in 2010. As part of the 'Model Schools' project, we also received six interactive whiteboards from the Ministry," said Ecaterina Cojocaru, principal of the "Mihai Eminescu" Theoretical High School.
Better conditions will also be seen in the school's sports hall and assembly hall. The institution's facade will also be renovated.
"In the sports hall, we plan to build a foldable wall in the middle of the hall. There are many students, and sometimes two classes have lessons at once, so this wall will be closed to prevent one class from disturbing the other," stated the institution's principal.
The institution also needs new laboratories.
"We could conduct many experiments, especially considering what we use every day. But unfortunately, in the chemistry lab, we have a total shortage of reagents," said Elena Mîrza, a chemistry and physics teacher.

According to the Ministry of Education, institutions with over 500 students were selected for the project, with the possibility of increasing capacity by an additional 200 places.
"At this stage, I believe we have around ten institutions that are in the final stages of technical design. This means that by the end of this year, we will launch tenders for the works," declared the Minister of Education, Dan Perciun.
Initially, 35 educational institutions were included in the project. Recently, the number was expanded to 50. Authorities estimate that at least 200 million euros will be needed. The project is also projected to be completed by 2029.
