We have finished harvesting the barley, yielding about five to eight tons per hectare. We are currently harvesting the wheat, and I anticipate a yield of approximately six to seven tons per hectare. Overall, the results are satisfactory. We plan to update our techniques in three to four years. We will continue to use the current methods for a few more years before replacing them.

Despite the challenges posed by weather conditions, farmers in the northern region of the country report that this year's harvest is very good.

"It is better than last year," they say. "Last year was drier, and we faced various difficulties."

"Every year brings its harvest," they add. "One year can be like this, while another year can be completely different. Some years are better, and others are worse."

Combine harvesters are in the fields early in the morning in Causeni.

Farmer Eugen Sârbu states that he needs to harvest wheat from an area of 300 hectares, and the entire process will take nearly a month.

"The condition of the wheat, including its moisture content, is quite good. The harvest looks beautiful, and we are delighted with the outcome. We have the necessary equipment, including transport vehicles, tractors, and water barrels. We have three mechanizers and one driver, for a total of four people."

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, farmers harvested approximately 1.2 million tons of wheat last year, achieving an average productivity of between 3 and 3.2 tons per hectare from a sown area of approximately 360,000 hectares. Preliminary estimates for the 2025 agricultural year suggest a larger harvest of around 1.4 million tons. Of this total, approximately 350,000 tons of wheat are sent annually for processing to produce flour for domestic consumption.
