Weather alert: Heavy rain, hail, and storms expected in Moldova
Following the recent heat wave, the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) issued a Yellow Code warning for atmospheric instability on July 9. This weather alert will take effect on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. and will remain in place until Thursday, July 10, at 8:00 a.m.
Meteorologists are forecasting widespread rain accompanied by lightning, isolated heavy showers with rainfall accumulations of 15 to 45 liters per square meter, as well as hail and storms featuring wind gusts of 15 to 20 meters per second.
The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) advises people to exercise caution and stay informed about changing weather conditions.
Additionally, Chisinau City Hall encourages citizens to use public transport instead of personal vehicles to prevent potential incidents.
Drivers are urged not to park on the side of streets, on sidewalks, or under trees to avoid traffic congestion and ensure that specialized services can respond swiftly if needed.
