Better roads in southern Moldova: "Moldova Roads III" project extended to 2028

The funding period for the "Moldova Roads III" Project will be extended until December 2028. On July 9, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the ratification of an agreement that amends the financing contract with the European Investment Bank. This amendment will facilitate the completion of construction and rehabilitation works in two vital sectors in the southern part of the country.

The M3 road, the bypass of the city of Cimișlia, and the R34 road on the Cantemir-Cahul section are set for improvements.

According to authorities, these enhancements will boost regional mobility, enhance road safety, and foster local economic development.

“The proposed changes will positively impact population mobility by facilitating road transport and increasing traffic,” stated Angela Țurcanu, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, during a government meeting.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean noted that the Republic of Moldova has achieved a record in road construction and emphasized that this effort will continue. He highlighted the significant contribution of financial support from the EU towards the development of national infrastructure.

“This support encompasses both national and regional roads, and shortly, we will also increase investments in the modernization of local roads,” added the Prime Minister.

We remind you that the "Moldova Roads III" project plays a strategic role in enhancing regional mobility. It will improve transportation between the southern districts of the country and strengthen connections to the national road network.
