The authorities successfully acquired nearly half of the natural gas required for the right bank of the Nistru by July 9, for the 2025–2026 gas year (October 1, 2025 - September 30, 2026).

Energocom has purchased approximately 3.75 million megawatt-hours (MWh) of natural gas, equivalent to 352.5 million cubic meters, which accounts for 45.7% of the total required quantity.

This gas will be delivered during the specific month it is needed for consumption. The purchase was made at either a fixed price or a variable price, which is determined by fluctuations in major gas markets in Central and South-Eastern Europe, such as the Title Transfer Facility (TTF) in the Netherlands and the Romanian Market (BRM).

Energocom stated that, for confidentiality and competitive reasons, specific details about prices, partners, and volumes cannot be disclosed at this time. These details will be shared publicly once the deliveries are completed.

This marks the first time that gas purchases were conducted in accordance with a strategy approved by the company's Board of Directors. The aim of this strategy is to secure the best prices and ensure reliable deliveries.

To address the high demand during the winter and prevent potential supply issues, Energocom announced its intention to purchase additional natural gas, which will be stored in designated facilities. The company established partnerships with storage facilities where it can keep these reserves until they are needed.

Recently, the Ministry of Energy assured citizens of the Republic of Moldova that they will have an uninterrupted supply of natural gas and electricity during the cold season. This assurance is supported by a loan of 400 million euros that was secured by Energocom. The loan agreement was signed on July 8 between the Ministry of Finance and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
