Dumitru Alaiba expressed at the Commission meeting that he has the necessary experience to take on a role at the central bank.
"With over 20 years of experience, I have maintained a connection with the financial and economic sectors. This includes my role as Minister of Economy, where I actively participated in the meetings of the National Committee for Financial Stability, supervised the Organization for the Development of Entrepreneurship, and collaborated closely with the banking sector, including the National Bank of Moldova," Alaiba stated.
He noted that, as a deputy and chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Economy, Budget, and Finance, his primary responsibility was to oversee and uphold parliamentary control over the central bank's activities.
Additionally, he highlighted his international experience and work in civil society, during which he developed "policy documents aimed at reforming the banking sector."

From 2016 to 2019, Dumitru Alaiba founded and led a non-governmental organization (NGO). In 2019, he was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) with the Action and Solidarity Party and served as Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Economy, Budget, and Finance. In 2022, he became Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy in the Gavrilița Government. Following a government reshuffle and institutional reforms, he served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization in the Recean Government as of February 2023.
