A new member appointed to Moldova’s Court of Accounts

Maria Tabacari was appointed to the Court of Accounts for a five-year term. A draft decision to this effect was approved during the Legislature's plenary session on July 10.
Maria Tabacari took her oath before the deputies, following the legal procedure.
A specialist in public fund administration, Maria Tabacari has been working at the Court of Accounts since 2017. Before that, she served as the head of the Basarabeasca territorial treasury at the Ministry of Finance and also held the position of deputy director of the Territorial House of Social Insurance in Basarabeasca.
The position of member of the Court of Accounts became vacant when Tatiana Șevciuc was appointed as the president of the institution.
According to the Law on the Organization and Functioning of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova, members of the institution are appointed by the Parliament with the majority vote of elected deputies. Appointments are made based on the proposal of the President of the Court of Accounts and through a public competition, with a term of five years.
