A modern regional hospital will be built in Cahul, providing advanced medical services to approximately 300,000 residents in the southern part of the country. The Parliament ratified the Financing Agreement with the European Investment Bank for the "Regional Hospitals of the Republic of Moldova" project, which includes a loan of 101 million euros.

The new hospital will be constructed on the site of the current Cahul District Hospital and will cover an area of over 50,000 square meters. It will feature a modern operating suite with eight operating rooms, as well as equipment for interventional radiology, cardiac catheterization, and advanced endoscopic procedures. Additionally, the emergency unit will be a tertiary care facility with a hybrid room designed for complex interventions, as announced by Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco during the Parliament's meeting.

"Services that are currently unavailable in district hospitals will be decentralized from Chisinau to two regional hospitals: Balti and Cahul. Our goal is to have both hospitals completed by 2030. There is a significant amount of work to be done in the coming years," said Ala Nemerenco.

The new medical institution will offer a wide range of services, including cardiology, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, and minimally invasive interventions. An oncology center will also be established within the Cahul Regional Hospital to enhance access to advanced cancer treatments for the population.

The hospital will serve residents from the Cahul, Comrat, Leova, Ceadâr-Lunga, Taraclia, Cantemir, and Vulcănești districts.

Construction work is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with the project expected to be completed by July 2030.
