In the first half of 2025, exports from the Transnistrian region to European Union (EU) member states accounted for 76.9% of the total volume of foreign trade transactions. Additionally, imports from the EU made up 45.8%, according to information from the Reintegration Policy Bureau (BPR).

According to the Bureau for Reintegration Policies (BPR), economic agents from the left bank of the Nistru primarily sold their products in the markets of Romania, Italy, and Germany. Meanwhile, the region's main import partners were Ukraine, Romania, and Poland.

"These indicators demonstrate a clear trend of strengthening economic ties between the business environment of the Transnistrian region and the markets of the European Union, solidifying the EU's position as the region's main trading partner. Despite the challenges posed by the energy and economic crisis facing the Transnistrian region, neighboring countries such as Romania and Ukraine, along with the entire European Union market, remain stable and reliable trading partners for economic agents from the left bank of the Nistru," stated the BPR's press release.

We remind you that in 2024, approximately 83% of products from the Transnistrian region were sold in the EU market.

We remind you that the Transnistrian region is currently experiencing a severe crisis. The authorities in Tiraspol extended the state of emergency in the economy until August 9.

This crisis has been triggered by a reduction in natural gas supplies to the region. As a result, starting from July 2025 and continuing until the end of the year, salaries for employees in the budget sector will be paid in two installments.

The authorities in Tiraspol acknowledged the financial difficulties and attributed this measure to the depletion of the region's reserves and the challenges posed by the ongoing energy crisis and geopolitical situation.
