Fourteen Moldovan civil society organizations (CSOs) have received grants from People in Need, supported by the European Union.

These grants aim to strengthen local democracy, foster community development, and build trust between citizens and public institutions.

The European Union remains a development partner, not just a donor. It will continue to support civic engagement, democratic education, and capacity building, states Irina Beșliu, Civil Society Program Officer at the EU Delegation in Moldova.

The INSPIRĂ Moldova project, running from 2024 to 2027, aims to foster a supportive environment for civil society as part of Moldova's European integration. The initiative encourages CSOs to get involved in decision-making processes at national, local, and digital levels. It also fosters their cooperation with authorities to promote democracy and good governance, according to a press release from the EU Delegation in Chișinău.

These 14 organizations will implement initiatives in communities nationwide, addressing themes such as citizen participation in decision-making, promoting transparency, youth involvement, and the inclusion of vulnerable groups.

Grant values range from €10,000 to €30,000, depending on the scope and specific nature of the interventions.
