Dorin Recean travels to Romania today on his first visit abroad in his capacity as Prime Minister

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Dorin Recean, is expected in Romania today, 1 March. This is his first visit abroad as Prime Minister. In Bucharest, the head of the Moldovan government will meet Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, his Romanian counterpart Nicolae Ciucă, as well as have bilateral meetings with the interim President of the Senate, Alina Gorghiu, and the President of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu.

According to the Government, the officials will discuss topics on the bilateral agenda to deepen the bilateral relationship, with a focus on economic recovery and the development of energy cooperation, as well as the development of infrastructure projects. Starting at 12:15, Prime Ministers Dorin Recean and Nicolae Ciucă will make press statements.

The programme also includes a meeting with Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown and His Royal Highness Prince Radu, as well as discussions with members of the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitisation Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Lilia Dabija, Minister of Defence Anatoly Nosatyi and Secretary General of the Government Artur Mija.

Moldova 1 recalls that the Recean government was sworn in on 16 February, after former Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița resigned. Romanian PM Nicolae Ciucă reiterated Romania's support for the new government in Chisinau and issued an official invitation to his Moldovan counterpart, Dorin Recean, to visit Bucharest on his first foreign visit since taking office.

Recently, Romania was also visited by the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu. The head of state had a series of high-level meetings in Bucharest, including with her counterpart Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă and the President of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu.
