Moldova elections: CEC confirms first 25 parties for Sept. 28

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has released the list of 25 political parties that meet the legal requirements to participate in this year's parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28.

This information was provided based on data furnished by the Public Services Agency (PSA).

Among the eligible parties are the Political Party "Party of Action and Solidarity," the National Alternative Movement Political Party, the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, and the Party of Development and Consolidating Moldova. Also eligible to participate in the September 28 parliamentary elections are the "Heart of Moldova" Party, led by former Gagauzian governor Irina Vlah; the "Greater Moldova" Party, founded by former prosecutor Victoria Furtună; and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), led by Arina Spătaru.

The CEC also announced that the applications of 14 other parties are currently under review at the PSA. These include the Party of Communists, the Dignity and Truth Platform, the Liberal Party, and the Coalition for Unity and Well-being.

For three political parties – the "Chance" Political Party, the "Alternative and Salvation Force of Moldova" Political Party, and the "Renaissance" Political Party – it is noted that ongoing litigation in court concerns the limitation of their activities or their dissolution.

"The Commission deemed it judicious to include these 14 parties in the list of political parties eligible to participate in the parliamentary elections on September 28, 2025, with the reservation that this right may be revoked if the Public Services Agency does not issue a favorable individual administrative act and/or if an enforceable court decision is issued regarding the dissolution or limitation of the political parties' activities," states the CEC's press release.

The final list of participants in the election will be confirmed once the legal status of these entities is clarified.
