Trump urged Zelensky to hit Russia, report says

President Donald Trump reportedly urged Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky to escalate attacks on Russian territory, even asking if Ukraine could launch an assault on Moscow or St. Petersburg if the United States supplied long-range weapons.
This information was published Tuesday by the Financial Times, citing two sources familiar with the conversation between the two leaders. Reuters also reported on the claims.
According to the publication, the discussion reportedly occurred on July 4, one day after Trump held a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During his conversation with Zelensky, Trump also reportedly discussed the possibility of sending US-made ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, according to the same sources.
The White House has not yet commented on the information. Reuters, which also reported on the case, stated it could not independently verify the authenticity of the Financial Times' account.
At the same time, Trump reportedly stated he was "disappointed" with his call with Vladimir Putin because the Kremlin leader did not seem willing to take concrete steps to stop the war unleashed against Ukraine.
On Monday, Trump threatened to impose "severe tariffs" against Russia if it did not make peace within 50 days.
