Moldovan Government launches platform highlighting smart metering benefits

The Government of the Republic of Moldova has launched an online platform, www.contorinteligent.energie.gov.md, dedicated to smart metering. This aims to provide citizens with important details about the operation of new energy meters and their benefits. The announcement was made by the Executive's spokesperson, Daniel Vodă.
Smart meters enable real-time monitoring of energy consumption, provide accurate billing without estimates, offer differentiated hourly tariffs, and help protect the environment by reducing emissions.
Cristina Pereteatcu, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, mentioned that, with the support of UNDP Moldova and the Government of Italy, the Executive is implementing a pilot project to install 100,000 smart meters by 2027. This initiative will cover approximately 7% of the population of the Republic of Moldova.
“To date, 35,000 meters have already been delivered and are currently being installed in the northern and central-southern regions. An additional 25,000 meters are scheduled for installation by the end of 2026,” said Cristina Pereteatcu.
Through the newly launched platform, citizens can learn about who benefits from smart meters, how they function, what advantages they offer to consumers, and how they contribute to a more efficient and sustainable energy system.
