Four detained in 500,000 lei bribe case: lawyer, two intermediaries, and a prosecutor involved
A lawyer, two intermediaries, and a prosecutor from the Edineț District Prosecutor's Office were detained by officers from the National Anticorruption Center (CNA) and prosecutors from Chișinău in connection with a corruption case. According to investigators, they allegedly demanded and received approximately 500,000 lei in several installments to influence the outcome of a criminal case.
The lawyer and two intermediaries allegedly claimed they could influence the prosecutor overseeing an investigation into the organization of illegal migration. In June 2025, the individual being investigated was reportedly removed from criminal prosecution, which has raised suspicions among the investigators.
All four suspects were detained for 72 hours and placed in the CNA detention center. On the evening of July 16, searches were conducted at their homes, resulting in the seizure of several documents and items pertinent to the investigation.
