At the Moldova State University (USM), the Alexandru Moșanu Auditorium, named after the distinguished academic and first President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, was officially inaugurated following its extensive renovation.

The event was attended by members of the first parliament, various officials, and the son of the late politician.

"I am moved to see my father's memory endure, and this likely happens because of the relevance of his legacy, of the things he believed in," stated Viorel Moșanu, Alexandru Moșanu's son.

"Renovating this hall is an investment not just in walls and furniture, but in the continuity of the academic and civic culture we so desperately need," declared Igor Șarov, Rector of USM.

"We are obligated, through all our efforts and the policies we implement, to swiftly become the generation of European integration. In Professor Moșanu's memory, we will do everything possible to fulfill this aspiration," emphasized Igor Grosu, President of the Parliament.

Legislators from the first Parliament noted that Alexandru Moșanu was a man of great dignity, both as a university professor and as a politician.

"We collaborated for several years in the first Parliament and were good friends," said Ludmila Scalnîi, a deputy in the first Parliament.

"He was not only a foundational historian but also the first President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. He read the declaration of independence of the Republic of Moldova from the former empire, and his merits are therefore immense for our nation," declared Anatol Petrencu, President of the Association of Historians of Moldova.

The auditorium was renovated as part of the "Higher Education in Moldova" Project, funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Education and Research. Alexandru Moșanu was born on July 19, 1932, in Braniște village, Râșcani district. The first President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova passed away on December 7, 2017.
