Andrei Năstase announces independent parliamentary bid

Former Minister of Internal Affairs and leader of the Dignity and Truth Platform, Andrei Năstase, announced his independent candidacy for the September parliamentary elections.
Năstase made the announcement on July 20 during a press conference, adding that he plans to visit the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) with a group of 61 people.
"I decided to run as an independent for all those who are not politically affiliated, for all those who are deceived by empty slogans and then humiliated by unjust legislation, and for the hundreds of thousands of protesters and signatories of my projects aimed at liberating the country from political capture and improving our lives," Andrei Năstase stated.
According to the CEC, independent candidates must collect and submit signature lists with at least 2,000 and a maximum of 2,500 signatures to the Commission. By derogation, a female candidate needs to submit a minimum of 1,000 and a maximum of 2,500 signatures in her support.
To collect signatures, independent candidates can form initiative committees.
The parliamentary elections are scheduled for September 28, 2025.
