Yellow Code for Heatwave in Moldova: Health Ministry issues safety tips

High temperatures are expected today in the Republic of Moldova. The State Hydrometeorological Service issued a Yellow Code for Heatwave, which is in effect throughout the day, particularly for the southern and central districts of the country. Meteorologists are forecasting temperatures to reach as high as 35 degrees Celsius.

In this context, the Ministry of Health recommends that individuals leaving their homes wear hats or scarves and opt for light-colored, natural-fiber clothing with sleeves.

It is also advisable to limit demanding physical activities outdoors, such as sports or gardening. Parents should not leave children in cars, even for just a few minutes.

Increased care should be given to children, the elderly, individuals with chronic illnesses—especially those with heart disease—and people with disabilities.

To prevent dehydration, specialists recommend drinking at least two liters of fluids daily in small, regular portions, rather than waiting until you feel thirsty. Foods with high water content, such as melon, watermelon, cucumbers, and tomatoes, are recommended during this time.
