University admissions start in Moldova: Candidates may select up to three institutions and three specialties each

Today marks the beginning of university admissions in the country. Applicants are required to submit their applications exclusively online through the eadmitere.gov.md platform and must authenticate themselves in the system using either an electronic or mobile signature. This year, candidates seeking higher education in the Republic of Moldova can apply to up to three higher education institutions, choosing a maximum of three specialties at each institution.

According to the calendar approved by the Ministry of Education and Research, the main admission session for higher education will take place from July 21 to July 27, with final results posted on August 12. An additional session will take place from August 13 to August 15 to fill any remaining budgetary spots, with results announced on August 24.

Registration is considered valid only when original documents are presented within the deadlines set by each educational institution.

Students seeking higher education in the Republic of Moldova can choose from a variety of institutions, including the Technical University of Moldova (UTM), “Ion Creangă” State Pedagogical University, “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM), “Alecu Russo” State University of Balti (USARB), State University of Comrat, “Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu” State University of Cahul, Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts (AMTAP), “Alexandru cel Bun” Military Academy, and “Ștefan cel Mare” Police Academy.

For this year's admission session, the Government has approved a plan that includes 8,697 budgetary places. The majority of these places are allocated to fields of strategic importance, such as education, health, information technology, engineering, agriculture, and veterinary medicine.

Priority for these budgetary places is given to holders of a baccalaureate diploma. Additionally, special quotas are available for college graduates, individuals with disabilities, and those from vulnerable backgrounds.

Last year, over 50% of high school graduates chose to pursue higher education at universities in the Republic of Moldova, marking a significant increase compared to previous years. By 2025, the Ministry of Education aims to achieve a 60% enrollment rate by focusing on digitalizing the admission process, offering attractive scholarships, and providing an educational curriculum aligned with the needs of the labor market.
