Thousands of Ecstasy pills discovered in a parcel at the Sculeni border crossing. Two suspects detained

Two Moldovan men were detained by law enforcement, suspected of involvement in an international Ecstasy smuggling network. The group, made up of citizens from Moldova, Romania, and Spain, operated across the European Union and Moldova, trafficking large quantities of banned pills into the country.

Police stopped a minibus on the Suceava–Orhei route shortly after it crossed the border at the Sculeni checkpoint.

During a search of an unaccompanied parcel hidden inside an air filter, officers found approximately 1,500 Ecstasy pills, with an estimated value of over 500,000 lei.

According to the investigation, the drugs were intended for sale at entertainment venues and via the Telegram app.

The two suspects, aged 45 and 64, face prison sentences ranging from 10 to 15 years.
