Moldova wins two medals and two honorable mentions at the International Physics Olympiad

The Olympic team from the Republic of Moldova won two silver medals and received two honorable mentions at the International Physics Olympiad held in Paris, France, from July 17 to 25, 2025.

The silver medalists at the International Physics Olympiad are Alex Secrieru and Darius Graur, who are students in the 10th and 11th grades, respectively, at the “Orizont” Theoretical Lyceum in Durlești, Chișinău. Honorable mentions were awarded to Victor Sandu, a 10th-grade student at the same lyceum, and Vadim Arhip, a 12th-grade student at the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Theoretical Lyceum in Chișinău.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research, the Republic of Moldova was represented at the Olympiad by five students and two teachers, Sergiu Cârlig and Serghei Bâzgan, both doctors of physical science at the Institute of Applied Physics of the State University of Moldova.

A total of 406 students from 87 countries participated in the 55th International Physics Olympiad.
