EU supports Moldovan women with disabilities via EuPot.md digital platform

Women with disabilities in the Republic of Moldova now have access to an information and support platform called EuPot.md, which was launched in Chisinau with the support of the European Union. This platform serves as an accessible and safe digital space, providing women with disabilities valuable information about their rights, protection from violence, and access to services as well as opportunities for civic and economic participation. The content is tailored to meet the needs of various types of disabilities.

“This platform, , will serve as an additional resource for everyone we currently support. It aims to provide unique information, materials, and consultations on aspects that our existing services may not yet cover,” explained Vasile Cușca, State Secretary at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

“Whoever has information also has power. The intention is to change the current patterns where certain entities possess information that is not accessible to vulnerable groups, particularly women with disabilities,” highlighted Rafal Chibowski, country director of People in Need Moldova.

The platform is seen as a long-awaited solution by women with disabilities.

“I understand how challenging it is for women with disabilities and people with disabilities in the Republic of Moldova to find a place for information or a platform where their voices can be heard,” said Irina Revin, president of the Association of Entrepreneurs with Disabilities, during the event.

“This platform, created in partnership with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, is a gesture towards us, and we thank them wholeheartedly. We encourage everyone to engage with this platform and to see the needs and challenges we face,” stated Elena Crîșmari, president of the Association "Alliance for Dolna."

The EuPot.md platform is part of the "Hope and Safety for Women with Disabilities" project. In addition to developing this digital space, the initiative helps women with disabilities get involved in various activities and become active voices in their communities.

“We participate in projects organized by various organizations. We promote initiatives and directly support individuals, including entrepreneurs with disabilities who create jobs for other people with disabilities.”

“I am a third-year student at the Faculty of Physics and Engineering at the State University, and I work as a mathematics and physics teacher. I have many friends with disabilities, both male and female. We encourage each other not to hide at home or feel ashamed, but to show the world that we exist and can lead normal lives like everyone else.”

The EuPot.md platform was launched by the Association of Entrepreneurs with Disabilities of the Republic of Moldova in partnership with People in Need Moldova, as part of the project "Moldova ASSIST: Improving Access to Quality Public Services and Social Cohesion," which is funded by the European Union.
