The former director of the Information Technology and Cybersecurity Service (STISC), Alexandru Corețchi, who resigned at the end of June, stated that he had been "asked" to leave his position by Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

"To be completely transparent: in a short meeting with the Prime Minister, I was asked to step down within a week. I can confirm that he thanked me for the work I had done," Corețchi said at a press conference held on Monday, July 28.

He also announced his decision to join the political bloc "Together."

"Our vision is very clear: we will not tolerate abuse. We will do our utmost to ensure society is properly informed, and that there is no room for ambiguity—neither in the Legislature nor in administrative governance. No one should be treated unfairly," Corețchi emphasized.

When asked by Teleradio-Moldova to comment on Corețchi’s statement and the reasons why Prime Minister Dorin Recean may have requested his resignation, government spokesperson Daniel Vodă replied that he would respond later.

Alexandru Corețchi assumed leadership of the Information Technology and Cybersecurity Service in 2023.

STISC is currently headed on an interim basis by the institution’s deputy director, Radu Vieru.
