Moldova moves closer to joining the "Creative Europe" program

The European Commission has approved the signing and provisional application of an agreement that will enable the Republic of Moldova to join the "Creative Europe" program starting January 1, 2026. This EU initiative is dedicated to supporting the cultural and creative sectors.
The agreement will be signed on September 2 during the official visit of Glenn Micallef, the European Commissioner for Intergenerational Equity, Youth, Culture, and Sport, to the Republic of Moldova. Once signed, this document will enable provisional application of its provisions, allowing cultural organizations in Moldova to access European funds and participate on equal terms with those from EU member states in projects that promote cross-border cooperation, artistic mobility, and cultural diversity.
According to the European Commission, the "Creative Europe" program plays a vital role in strengthening the resilience of the cultural and creative industries. It supports thousands of projects and professionals in this field across Europe each year.
The full participation of the Republic of Moldova in all components of the program, including cross-sectoral areas and MEDIA, will only be possible if national legislation aligns with the conditions outlined in the EU Audiovisual Media Services Directive. The agreement will officially take effect after it is ratified by the authorities in Chisinau.
