App and website with banned Russian TV channels blocked in Moldova

The "Hai TV" application and the "HaiTV.md" website were blocked in the Republic of Moldova.

The announcement was made by Government Spokesperson Daniel Vodă, who stated that the decision follows the discovery by authorities that the platform was retransmitting prohibited content from Russian and Belarusian sources.

After receiving a complaint, including one from the Audiovisual Council, regarding the retransmission of banned content by the "Hai TV" application and the "HaiTV.md" website, the relevant authorities issued blocking orders.

The content distributed through this application originates from media sources in the Russian Federation and Belarus, which are already banned in the Republic of Moldova for security reasons. Recently, citizens reported receiving SMS messages containing links to a platform that promotes television channels such as "Первый канал," "Россия 1," and "Россия 24," which are banned in the Republic of Moldova.

The Audiovisual Council alerted the appropriate institutions, including the Intelligence and Security Service, to take necessary action regarding this matter.

"It is a clear operation of manipulation and interference in our space, an external influence manipulating information and public opinion. We cannot ignore the electoral context, as we are currently in a campaign for the parliamentary elections. All signals and warnings from our partners in information analysis structures indicate that such attacks will intensify as we approach election day," commented Liliana Vițu, president of the Audiovisual Council, in an interview with Moldova 1 TV.
