Ursula von der Leyen goes to the US
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will be received next Friday at the White House by US President Joe Biden for conversations on the support granted to Ukraine, but also less consensual topics related to climate or China.

The two leaders will "approach the strong cooperation between the United States and the European Union to support Ukraine" and "sanctioning Russia," reads a statement of the the White House quoted by Agerpres. Also, on the conversation agenda there are topics related to "coordination between the United States and the European Union to combat the climatic crisis through clean energy investments, through safe supply chains". Joe Biden and Ursula von der Leyen will also discuss the initiatives launched to reduce European dependence on Russian hydrocarbons. The meeting will eventually focus on "other international security topics, including our common efforts to respond to China's challenges," the statement said. The US president would like his European allies to adopt a firmer position than China, from a diplomatic, but also technological and economic point of view.
