Chisinau hosted a forum on Friday for students from both the country and the diaspora. Young people had the chance to explore various opportunities for personal, professional, and civic development. The event emphasized the important role that youth play in modernizing the Republic of Moldova and in strengthening connections with the diaspora.

Dragoș Bahov is a Bassarabian student studying in the United Arab Emirates at one of the top universities in the world. The young man is eager to return home and contribute to the necessary changes in his country.

"Studying here is much more complicated because I am surrounded by brilliant students from all over the globe. Additionally, it can be stressful to be alone in a large country, far from home. I want to return to the Republic of Moldova, start a business, and find a well-paying job."

Mihai Purice, on the other hand, went to the Netherlands for a new experience, yet he believes that the education at home is not inferior.

"Moldova has made significant progress in recent years, especially in terms of education at the European level. The differences are not as considerable as they might seem; they mostly come down to experience, and perhaps this is just a new beginning."

Students in the Republic of Moldova believe there is a need for young people from the diaspora to return home.

It is essential for young people who graduate here to understand the benefits of staying in Moldova. Additionally, those who have recently returned from the diaspora this summer should realize that it is possible to come back home and that living here is just as viable as in their current locations.

I have a colleague studying abroad with whom I communicate regularly. Who knows, maybe one day he will return to Moldova and continue his career here.

We must work together to build a better Moldova, as we are the next generation.

"We aimed to create a dialogue between students at home and those in the diaspora. Our goal is to assess our current situation, identify the changes needed in the educational system of the Republic of Moldova, and explore ideas that we can adopt from abroad and implement here," said Alina Slobodaniuc, one of the forum organizers.

"This is a great opportunity to maintain connections and demonstrate to young people in the diaspora the options available to them, including opportunities for studying in the Republic of Moldova. Perhaps some may wish to return home to pursue an additional master’s degree here," added Dan Perciun, the Minister of Education and Research.
