“Cămara Fest” gathers local producers and food lovers in Alunelul Park

Alunelul Park in Chisinau hosted a gathering of food enthusiasts and supporters of local products on Saturday, August 2. Seventy-five producers from across the country showcased a variety of offerings, including flavored honey, award-winning cheeses, berries, and seasonal delicacies at Cămara Fest. Visitors attended not only to explore the authentic tastes of local products but also to support the growth of small businesses in the country.
Early in the morning, Alunelul Park in the capital was full of people. Dozens of producers set up stalls filled with honey, nuts, greens, fruits, sweets, and many other delights. While some visitors came to explore new products, others departed with bags full of products, reports Ana Neamțu, journalist of Moldova 1 TV.
Piotr Chiriac traveled from Taraclia to share his lovingly prepared products with the capital's residents. His family’s cheeses even won medals at a festival in France in 2023.
"We age our cheese from four to fourteen months. We offer softer, creamier, and harder varieties, as well as caciotta with truffles and basil," said Piotr Chiriac, the cheese producer.
Maria Sacara from Basarabeasca, shared that, although she harvested less honey this year, she is working to meet demand.
"I brought polyfloral honey, sage honey, and manna honey. Last year we had acacia and maple honey, but this year we don’t have acacia honey. There simply wasn't any," explained beekeeper Maria Sacara to Moldova 1.
The berry harvest was also poor this year.
"The berry harvest was weaker than in previous years. We didn't have any berries, which is why prices are high," noted Ana Paraschiva, a berry producer.
Despite the challenges, many visitors left the fair with purchases.
"I wanted to see what our producers are selling. I bought bread and blackberries for my grandchildren, and we'll see what else is available," one visitor said.
"We come to this fair often because we enjoy the products. They are fresh and tasty, and we like to support local producers," another visitor added.
"We bought everything: tomatoes, fruits, ham, and melons," said a third customer.
"It's a tradition. We have been organizing this fair for seven years now, particularly in the summer when the Republic of Moldova offers some of the sweetest, tastiest, and most fragrant local fruits," said Diana Crudu, president of the "Eurocivis" Association.
Visitors will have the opportunity to visit the "Cămara Fest" fair on Sunday, August 3, as well as on August 9, 10, 23, and 24.
