Health funds grow: CNAM collects over 8 billion lei in first 7 months

The National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) reported that, in the first seven months of this year, it has generated over 8.3 billion lei in mandatory health insurance funds (AOAM). This figure represents an increase of 867 million lei, or 11.6%, compared to the same period last year.

According to CNAM, the primary source of income is health insurance premiums, which amount to 5.4 billion lei and are calculated as a percentage of salaries. This figure represents an increase of approximately 656 million lei compared to the period from January to July 2024.

Fixed-amount insurance premiums, paid by individuals who are not employed, contributed over 335 million lei to the budget, which is an increase of 68 million lei compared to the same period last year.

Additionally, other income, including payments from residents of IT parks, totaled about 165 million lei, marking an increase of 34 million lei from the previous year.

Transfers from the state budget reached 2.4 billion lei in the first seven months of this year.

In terms of expenditures, the total amount spent from AOAM funds was nearly 9.5 billion lei, with 9.4 billion lei allocated to medical institutions and contracted pharmacies. This amount is more than 800 million lei higher than that of the same period last year.
